Taranaki Falls Tongariro National Park The list of hikes and places we wanted to do while at Tongariro park was enormous! The alpine crossing, Tama Lakes, Taranaki Falls, Mangawhero falls (gollums forbidden pool), and the list goes on! Unfortunately , with the weather closing right in, Marianne and I gave ourselves a refresher course on maintaining a log fire in our cabin and in so doing, contributed more to greenhouse emissions than if we had tried to run our own coal power plant. Nonetheless, since I had been on the alpine crossing twice in two days, Marianne ventured out to Taranaki falls with angry skies up above.
