A while back I went "haunted housing" with my girlfriend Gabby. At this point I have been haunted housing quite a few times and they have become less and less frightening the more I do it. But this particular occasion, was by far the most frightening night out under the stars that I have experienced. Unlike most other abandoned houses that I have photographed, this house is quite a ways off the road. To get to this house, you have to hike through a field, through some brambles, and across a creek until you arrive in this open field with an eerily terrifying old house in the middle of it. There was definitely something different about this house, I have grown to be unnaturally comfortable around these creepy old houses in the middle of the night, but this old house sent shivers down my spine for some reason. We carefully started to make our way towards the house, with only my iphone flashlight in hand, and then we heard something moving in the bushes. I flip around, and see two green eyes staring back-- unable to see what it is, I instantly think that it is a coyote. To my terror, it comes galloping at us, but to my relief it is only a deer. We finally build up enough courage to enter the house, and everything is incredibly quiet, until several bats start dive bombing us. In a mass of confusion, we both sprint out of the house, nearly tripping over the debris within the house. To our surprise, the bats, continue to follow us even outside, and continue to dive at us. To add to it, the deer that we saw earlier comes galloping straight at us, making an awfully terrifying gallop sound. We manage to grab the big spotlight flashlight in my backpack, flip it on, just in time to scare off the barrage. Trembling, we quickly put glow sticks in the windows, fire off a few shots, and got out of there as quickly as possible. It was one of the strangest nights out photographing I have ever experienced! I hope that this photo can do a little justice to what its like to stand out under the "rainbow" of the milky way on this exceptionally dark night. Enjoy! via 500px http://ift.tt/1wIuLZX
