The Great Gift by TrevorAnderson

After hiking the night before in the North Cascades and then following that up by heading into the freezing pre-sunrise dark up a steep trail, rest and something more leisurely was seeming a bit more enticing. On the way back West the the clouds were filling the sky and the perfect autumn conditions were wooing me for another glimpse of these powerful mountains. Since I am somewhat masochistic and I can certainly envision a future self in the dead of winter stirring on the idea of "should have done it", I excitedly headed up the trail. it's amazing to see how much energy you get when you actually commit to something; when you push out of that indecision limbo into pure focus. The warm-angled sunlight and light breeze burned into my mind; the larches still glow like little beacons in my memory. I sat and watched this amazing light unfurl. All the while I was recalling how before the hike nature was stirring up something magical and was calling to all nature enthusiasts to be prepared to receive the great gift. via 500px http://ift.tt/1wnxoBp
