The pieve and bell tower of Pieve Fosciana is located in a small plain, The Pieve’s Plan, once a center of thriving agricultural cultivation. From the Roman name fuscus, the plan has kept for centuries the name of Fusciana, later on ascribed to the village. His first written documents date back to the eighth century, when it was home to a Lombard settlement (there is memory in the Cafaggio’s street). Since then, the local church was a Pieve, that is a center of evangelization and worship, from which depended a large area of the Garfagnana. This is the bell tower that rises from the mist, almost evoking medieval memories. Enjoy via 500px http://ift.tt/1Hw1eJ1
