Universal Studios Japan's version of the Harry Potter ride. The 'black lake' in the foreground works really well, but the bland ride building does ruin the spectacle somewhat - less ugly in this night-time long exposure shot than in the daytime though. Pic has proved a little popular (due to that Editor's Choice - thanks!) so I'll add a bit more narrative... This is a bit of a long exposure (4 seconds) which is the max my little Panasonic TZ60 could handle mounted on a little gorilla-pod tripod out the back of the cafe-place (I forget the name) in the Universal Studios Japan's version of the Harry Potter world. Pic is from the raw file, processed a little in Lightroom. Unlike the Florida version of that themed land, there is a well placed small 'lake' positioned presumably specifically to get these sort of reflective shots - there is a daytime shot from a similar position a couple of pics along in my photostream where you can see the lake more clearly. The daytime shot is a bit sharper than this shot as well as the long exposure has produced some blur I think, especially in the reflection. The ride and ride building (indeed the whole themed area) is pretty much the same as the Florida version I think - there seemed to be a lot more locals dressed up in Potter-garb that you get in Florida though I think. They certainly were lapping up the themeing though - the shelves of the stores selling the themed tat were laid bare by the end of the day; I would expect that USJ would be happy that they have a big crowd-pleaser on their hands here. Thanks for looking! :) via 500px http://ift.tt/11fzmYg
