When everything lines up perfectly, it provides opportunities to capture a scene which yields beautiful photographs. I never anticipated shooting such intense airglow from the Pacific but when I saw the results I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I had planned a portrait shot of the Milky Way, and finding the right foreground to accompany it was difficult. After auditioning many rocks, I found the perfect set! So why the green airglow for those who are wondering? The green airglow is a natural occurrence which happens when atoms which where photo-ionize by the sun during the day become illuminated from cosmic rays striking the upper atmosphere.
