ROCKin View by susanholtphotography

Gates to the Valley, also known as Valley View located in the valley of Yosemite along the Merced River boasts grand unobstructed views of some of the most beloved treasures of the park. You will be mesmerized by El Capitan on the left, it derives its name from Spanish for "The Captain," named in 1851 by the Mariposa Battalion, a group of soldiers that pursued Chief Tenaya and 200 Ahwaneechees into Yosemite Valley where they were captured and taken from their Yosemite homeland to a reservation. El Capitan is considered the largest granite monolith in the world, being formed from a single chunk of granite. Let’s not forget about our brothers three in fact, can you see them? Bridalveil Falls flows on the front facing, but not today, to best see the gushing waters of Bridalveil, Spring time is that magic time where all the falls in the park are flowing at its peak. The Ahwahneechee Native Americans called this waterfall Pohono, which means Spirit of the Puffing Wind. via 500px http://ift.tt/1qYcSSG
