Sparks Lake Oregon by ACWaddington

Sparks Lake was one of the highlights on my trip to the Pacific Northwest. It's such an easy place to access so it's very popular. Stay here long enough and you're sure to meet all the celebrity photographers. When I first went to the lake it had just thawed. I had to hike in from the highway because the dirt road was thick with snow. As time went on the snow melted and gradually the wild flowers started to blossom. It's a short season so it wasn't long before the flowers died off and on my very last visit here there was fresh snow in the air. As you can imagine I shot quite a lot at this lake. I think I was at the lake shore somewhere in the region of 35 times during the course of my six month visit. In all that time I never really thought I had a shot. I would shoot for 5 days then try somewhere else, I'd no sooner be gone than I'd hear how ''the skies blew up'' at Sparks. I'd return once again excited to try my luck but again I seemed to get continually stumped. On occasions I would sit from sunrise to sunset in the same spot just watching, observing the conditions. I also watched as the lake level fell, I'd see otters playing in the shallows and sometimes tiny hummingbirds would eat the nectar from the wildflowers. Of all the shoots in the Pacific Northwest Sparks Lake will remain the most memorable. via 500px http://ift.tt/1x1pZWQ
