An African Icon by HougaardMalan

I'm a landscape photographer based in South Africa. To view more of Southern Africa's amazing scenery, click on through to my personal website. This shot is from my first photographic trip to Namibia, back in May 2010. I can still recall the inexplicable excitement of getting to the Namib Rand; the place of perfect African trees, oceans of glistening grass and towering mountains. This was the first sunrise and it lived up to all my expectations. The light was good and there was just an endless variety of amazing trees to photograph. As the sun climbed in the sky, I ran from tree to tree looking for the perfect one to do a shot like this. This hasn't always been my favourite shot from Namibia, but it's the 2nd best seller of my Namibia shots. Two of my three Namibia tours for this year are already fully booked, but there are still 3 spots available on the exclusive tour, running from 25 April to 6 May. Why is it exclusive? The group is limited to six people, we'll be travelling in style with Land Rover Discovery 4's and the tour includes a one hour sunrise helicopter flight over Sossusvlei.
