The Bond by gluhm

I was aboard the Home Shore kayak mothership in Auke Bay, Alaska, near Juneau, in May. I set off on a morning paddle with my 500mm f/4, searching for birds. I didn't have to go far. Just outside the harbor, male Arctic Terns were feeding their prospective mates, a courting behavior. I lined up close to a female roosting on a piling and waited. The male soon swooped in, hovered a bit to exchange a small fish, and then flew off to fetch another. The shoot was quite productive; I probably got a half-dozen fly-ins in less than an hour. All adjustments in Lightroom. via 500px http://ift.tt/1FuEeL6
