EMERALD STORM | Skaftafell, Iceland | March 17, 2015 A severe solar storm created a stunning display of light in the night sky over parts of the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I was lucky enough to be in Iceland and luckier when a portion in the south coast skies opened up for us to see the light show. The colors were amazing with a record level of 8.7 kph, other colors not normally seen were present, red and purple colors which is common for the Aurora australis showed in the northern hemisphere.
