I was fortunate to come across a pond full of Black Skimmers in Quintana, TX early in the morning when there was absolutely no wind at all, and the pond was like a mirror. A friend had loaned me her Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS USM lens, which is a FANTASTIC piece of glass! This shot was taken just before the sun came out from behind a low cloud right after a rain, and the sky was gray, making the water look like liquid metal. These are tough birds to photograph because they are very fast and they usually only skim early in the morning and just before sundown when there is very little light. I had to use a high ISO to get this shot because of the low light, with the photo showing some graininess from the ISO noise. via 500px http://ift.tt/1wQFmq1
