"Illusive Beauty" - Caribbean Volcano La Soufrière Click for a little compilation from the volcanic adventure I had a lot of extraordinary experiences while my time as a landscape photographer. For sure one of my most intense hours has happened here next to this active volcano. The ascent to 1.250m above sea level on tropical Guadeloupe was memorably. As I reached the top of this hill next to La Soufrière, strong winds blew smelling sulfur gases and clouds around me. The humidity was very high, so constantly my glasses and lenses were fogged. And with the wind chill 14°C felt ice cold compared to 30 tropical °C at sea level. As you see, not the best conditions when you imagine a paradise like Island :-). But - I loved it, especially, as the dusk broke and the colors were getting warmer. I waited for two hours at this location and got only ten seconds with the peeking-through of the active volcano.
