Shired island is the most remote beach in Florida and used to be one of the most polluted in the country. It was a dead zone a few years back but is on the recovery. There is a eerie landscape of twisted and broken dead trees that are set against the darkest skies east of the Mississippi which are really otherworldly and unique to photograph. On a related note, Shired island is the third stop on the upcoming 'Stars over Florida' workshop I'm leading this June with Paul Marcellini, check out the details on my website http://ift.tt/1lz1FWs via 500px http://ift.tt/1jmzI5t
