There really aren't too many people in this world that I have come to know that I really don't get tired of after awhile. Just a few friends and my fiance. One of those friends just kind of turned up out of nowhere, but at a point in my life where I really was needing one. Miles Morgan (you all know him) contacted me one day out of the blue on Flickr years ago. He and I were both beginners at photography, but he was asking various photography related questions about locations. He seemed nice enough and not like an axe murderer, so I asked if he wanted to me up sometime to shoot a sunrise together. Neither of us knew a thing about one another, and when we showed up to meet he and I couldn't have been more different. I was a long haired, tattooed, bum of a kid. He was clean cut, successful, charismatic. Really, there was no other reason a dude like him would be around a kid like I was unless for photography... which is kind of brilliant that art can bring to types of people together like that. Anyways, not to sound like we are romantically involved, which I'm sure you aren't convinced of, he and I really hit it off and found that we had many similar interests and extremely similar personalities. We were bros right off the bat. Fast forward quite a few years to today, and this shot. I took this photo on a backpacking trip with Miles. While processing it, I thought of all the great times we've shared over the years and how truly enriched my life has become since knowing him. We've post holed in deep snow together, come home with injuries like chaffing and a fractured wrist while snowshoe backpacking Crater Lake, shared many laughs, many frustrations and mountains to climb that non-photography life has brought our way, and a friendship that is still something that makes my life all the better... even besides having a shared interest in landscape photography. And for those reasons and more, I'd like to formally ask you Miles, buddy, to be my best man at my wedding. I can't think of a more honorable dude to stand there with me on one of the most important days of my life being married to the only other person in the world who has done as much for me as you have. Plus I know you'll give one HELL of a speech. Ok everyone, I'm sorry for the sappy display of bromance. I'm sure I've lost your interest by now. But yeah, this is a shot of Broken Top peak in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness. Anyways, I recently released my 3rd instructional video on my approaches to processing. People seem to really be enjoying them and have had nothing but great things to say, so I *think* they are helping people... it's been awesome to see the many before/after shots people have been emailing me. Be sure to check the videos out if you are into that sort of thing. It's all on my website, as well as more photos, photo tour info, processing instruction via Skype like everyone else is doing, etc, etc. I'm also SUPER excited to be teaming up with Arild Heitmann to lead a tour through Norway's Lofoten Islands to chase some some Aurora and the long hours of golden arctic light. The tour is filling up fast, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out soon! Ryan Dyar Photography. via 500px http://ift.tt/1CrNsor
