We were completely alone, in a field in country NSW and it was a glorious afternoon. The sun was setting and throwing a magnificent light across the open plains in front of us and with a few drinks in hand we got to work with the camera's and took it all in. I'm still at a loss as to why exactly this location was chosen for the filming of the barn scene in Superman Returns but on that afternoon, in good company with that warm autumn setting sun I wasn't complaining. This is 5 exposures blended together using my advanced Photoshop tonality control and multiple exposure blending techniques. I produced a video detailing these techniques, it's available here: www.zschnepf.com Last weekend I was co-teaching a workshop in the Gorge with fellow Photo Cascadia member and good friend David Cobb. We had a great group as usual. We were under a pretty cool, unstable weather pattern with lots of wind and rain, but it set us up for some dramatic conditions. We saw waterfalls, rainbows, paragliders, wildflower fields, incredible gorge views, and some spectacular light. This was our last morning. While I was helping some students set up in some foreground flowers I noticed this scene unfolding. I stepped to the edge of the cliff and fired off a quick bracket series and went back to helping some students. It was a great weekend of photography and adventure. Thanks for commenting! Two years ago I took this photo with my first camera and it's kit lens. I was only 4 months into photography and didn't really know much about what I was doing, but with this photo things started to change for me. People took notice of my work and started talking about me. What I learned from this was that it didn't matter so much with what you shot with, but it mattered more with what your content was and your composition was to tell the story you were trying to convey to your viewers. I still love this photo and plan on making another one with knowledge and equipment I have now. I know you all have seen this photo before, but I had to share it once again with my new edit and also the original crop of the photo. Perhaps one of the easiest places to shoot.. wait for a little good light, bolt yourself to the ground so as to avoid being blown over the edge, cover the lens with a hood to avoid water (rain) damage, drive down a small road at night after the shoot and spend too much time gawping at the landscape and forgetting to shoot!!! via 500px http://ift.tt/1fQ65Vt
