A New Dawn by JaredLim

Woke up at 3am, started hiking at 4am in the dark to catch sunrise. This is Gokyo Ri, near the lake on the bottom left are the lodges for the trekkers. Further up is the long stretch of Ngozumpa glacier, the longest glacier of Nepal which you have to cross over to get to Everest Base Camp. Early May this year, lake Gokyo was still pretty much frozen. via 500px http://ift.tt/1kw37em

Gentoo Penguin on iceberg in Cierva Cove, Antarctic Peninsula by MarkConnell

Cierva Cove lies on the south side of Cape Herschel, within Hughes Bay. It is named after Juan de la Cierva, the inventor of the autogiro (the precursor to the helicopter, first flown in 1923). This site is known for its collection of stunning icebergs and abundance of leopard seals. It is also home to Primavera, an Argentinian summer research station. via 500px http://ift.tt/1lUug7i

Twin peaks - from the unknown Antarctica by JrnAllanPedersen

This is a shot from an area in Antarctica were no human had been before december 2011. I was a lucky member of an expedition who was the first to enter this beautiful part of the world. And this is the first shot ever of this majestic mountain. The expedition was called "Return to the Penguins Kingdom - In the spirit of Roald Amundsen". And was done to honor Roald Amundsen at his hundred year anniversary of being the first man at the South Pool in December 1911. via 500px http://ift.tt/1t1LYcJ

Framed by Arild_Heitmann

This is one i captured about a month ago. I was basically just standing in the river waiting for the light to get its shit together and shine for me, but no...it wouldnt cooperate. But suddenly i saw some clouds come drifting over my head and i waited until it entered my frame. I wanted the clouds to appear as a natural frame around the mountain. Turned out pretty ok i think. Although the best shots came an hour later when things really took off... If you want to experience the Arctic and shoot all the awesomeness we have to offer; Lofoten, Senja, Lyngen etc.... check out www.lofotentours.com Tourguides are yours truly & Stian Klo Follow me on facebook: http://ift.tt/1h7L2Re Google+: http://ift.tt/1nW5xTI via 500px http://ift.tt/1owAu36

AUBURN FIRE by EdwinMartinez

More here - http://ift.tt/18S5e5V This was taken after the alpen glow where the sun starts to bathe the scene with golden auburn light. The mountain on the left is actually made up of three peaks namely; Ship's Prow, Ehegay Nakoda and Haling Peak. It is one of the most photogenic peaks one can photograph as the three peaks forms a crown, a jewel for the town of Canmore. via 500px http://ift.tt/QJ1XQC
