Conciergerie-Hall of the Guards by csillogo11

The Conciergerie is a former prison in Paris, France, located on the west of the Île de la Cité (literally "Island of the City"). It was part of the former royal palace, the Palais de la Cité, now known as the Palais de Justice, which is still used for judicial purposes. Hundreds of prisoners during the French Revolution were taken from the Conciergerie to be executed on the guillotine at a number of locations around Paris. via 500px http://ift.tt/1mectId

The Green Fjord by maxrivefotograaf

I took this single exposure, 250 meters below 'this location' with the d800e, 14-24mm lens on 14mm with CPL filter. I normally don’t shoot much during the afternoon other than test shots but I really liked the backlight on the (7 sisters) waterfall here. via 500px http://ift.tt/1wgtOsc

The Warrior by yspaene

Lucanus cervus - the stag beetle - is one of the biggest insects in Europe. They are very rare and I am proud to say that they live in my garden! This year I found more than one of these beetles around the house and in the evenings I can sometimes see and hear them flying around the trees. This male landed last night on my garden table. via 500px http://ift.tt/1ijFnW2

Greenland by mikeleggero

Greenland is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Though physiographically a part of the continent of North America, Greenland has been politically and culturally associated with Europe (specifically Norway and later Denmark) for more than a millennium. In 2008, the people of Greenland passed a referendum supporting greater autonomy; 75% of votes cast were in favour. Greenland is, in terms of area, the world's largest island, over 3/4 of which is covered by the only contemporary ice sheet outside of Antarctica. With a population of 56,370[3] (2013), it is the least densely populated country in the world via 500px http://ift.tt/1t9NoCf

Stairway to Heaven... by roberto_pazzi

A common stairway in the Norrmalm district of Stockholm (Sweden). The old man facing the last steps of the stairs with the head down and his load of bags, made me look at the scale like an allegory of life. Ramps represent the different ages of life. Bags represent the experience gained during the journey. via 500px http://ift.tt/1nl8K2c

Song Of The Sea by EliaLocardi

An phenomenal sunset in Vernazza, Cinque Terre Italy - one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world... One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to experience, what I like to call, "the moment of discovery." It’s that special moment in time that can overwhelm the senses and generate palpable feelings of awe and wonder as a breathtaking scene unfolds before your eyes. In that singular moment, everything you’ve hoped to experience and see in a specific place is perfectly represented and frozen in front of you. The air, the sound, the colors, everything seems to coalesce into pure visual harmony. You’ll know you’ve reached it when the only word that comes to mind is wow… As a travel photographer, it's those moments of discovery that I’m constantly seeking. It’s also the reason that certain countries and regions, like Italy and Cinque Terre, capture my focus and attention again and again. For me, places like Vernazza represent a harmonious balance between humanity, nature, and the unpredictable aspects of a sometimes turbulent sea. There are few places in the world that can speak directly to my heart and to be honest, Italy houses many of them. http://ift.tt/Z3lOOe via 500px http://ift.tt/1ihAWyF
