Yes, yes. This is one of the most iconic compositions from Ruby Beach... hell, even from most of Olympic National Park. But I just wanted to grab it real quick while out there with my friends Miles and Nagesh. It was a busy night on the beach with a mass transit of photographers, so I ended up having to clone out a few guys from the frame. This is also a stitch of two horizontal frames on top of each other to get the perspective I was after here. Also a couple shots for dynamic range. I've got a new video release I'm working on that covers some of this perspective blending stuff, as well as a few other types of perspective control techniques I use. There is also a BIG workshop announcement coming up for some epic international Aurora stuff that I'm super duper stoked on. Anyways, I recently released a tutorial video that covers some of the techniques I use in my processing (ones that were used in the making of this image). Last week I visited Cornwall. My second trip there and it was great.. although in case of sunset photography I had hoped for better conditions. This here was the best light I had during the trip and it compensated for the other evenings. It shows a view from the cliffs at Kynance Cove, one of my favourite places there. Hope you like it. ++view on black and go full screen for this one++ This is my first ever attempt at a full milky way panoramic. It stretches from looking south toward Astoria, OR and the north to the most northern tip of the Long Beach Peninsula here in Washington. It's comprised of 9 vertically stitched photos, 18mm, ISO 3200, 20 seconds, f/2.8. This location has always held a special in my heart as my dad spent a great deal of time here as a child and kept the tradition alive with me. This photo is a special one not only because of the area it was taken in but also because I was able to shoot the stars with my dad and teach him how to photograph the milky way for his first time. Tide Swept by csillerud

Wet and sandy feet are a natural occurrence on the coast, however, in this situation, the sea nearly stole my shoes all together. I've waited for this shot for two years, and we lucky enough to visit on one of the best days of my life. The conditions went from viscous overcast and 40 F to racing clouds in screaming sun. The conditions were soo good that I actually screwed up multiple photographs because I tried to shoot too many rather than making sure I did a few very well. That is a painful mistake that I will file away to guide me on all my future endeavors.
